On October 24, 2009, WJAC-TV interviewed a CERMUSA employee who, by taking off-the-shelf technologies and combining them in unique ways, has developed cutting-edge technologies that help individuals in rural and remote areas stay safe. Dave Wolfe, CERMUSA’s Wireless Communications Specialist, explained how the Radio over IP (patent pending) and mesh networking boxes he invented are helping first responders in isolated areas overcome communication "dead spots" by providing audio, video, and Internet access through WiFi nodes. He demonstrated how a remote control robotic camera can allow first responders to access and analyze dangerous situations via video without actually putting themselves in physical danger.
