CERMUSA Staff Present at Technology Day October 15
On October 15, 2009, Saint Francis University hosted Technology Day, an event geared towards area students in grades 9 - 12 who are enrolled in technology-related classes or who have an interested in technology-related careers.
Kent Tonkin, Assistant Director for Information Technology, and Brenda Guzic, Telehealth Research Specialist, gave a presentation on their Autism and Drumming research. The presenters discussed the technologies that are being developed to provide music therapy to persons with Autism and other disorders of consciousness. Students had the opportunity to participate in a remote electronic drumming session and explore other digital percussion devices.
Also presenting at this event was CERMUSA graduate student Jonathan Miller. His presentation, Digitial Architectural Modeling for your Community, explored the basics of digital architectural modeling using Google SketchUp and Google Earch. Students learned how their volunteer efforts can benefit their community and they also had the opportunity to construct a miniature paper model of a Saint Francis University building.
